Market Research Analyst—Export Control

Job Overview

Operate our export compliance program to ensure compliance with export control regulations in US, Japan and other applicable jurisdiction. It will include the following activities.

  • Collect and analyze data on both existing and new customers and their businesses (products, applications, logistics, future prospects, end users of the customer’s products by type and location, compliance program, etc.);
  • Support sales and R&D team in screening customers and/or business partners for compliance with export control program
  • Consult with external lawyer, experts, or colleagues in export control department in affiliated
  • companies, on an as needed basis to ensure compliance with export control program.   


  • Additionally, this position requires the ability to synthesize multi-­sourced complex information (including legal/regulatory information), apply analytical capabilities and utilize strong interpersonal and communications skills in an effective manner, including interacting with constituencies outside of the U.S., in particular Japan.
  • Prepare reports of findings, illustrating data graphically and translating complex findings into written text and into clear, easily understood presentations, including to executive management
  • Position will include project leadership roles, including providing some internal training   
  • Partner with sales, marketing and R&D team members and operations staff to address issues and/or make recommendations to improve performance on research studies, information gathering, and implementation of resolutions.   
  • Prepare and conduct training for sales, marketing and R&D team members and operations staff regarding export compliance, and customer information gathering and analysis.   


  • Degree: BA/BS required (EE, Economics and/or Mathematics and/or Marketing preferred), plus 5 to 10 years of relevant experience  
  • Knowledge of research methodologies and working knowledge of business analysis and modeling. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. 
  • Ability to work with all levels of internal and external organizations.
  • Paralegal and/or regulatory experience a plus   
  •  Exceptional written, oral, and presentation communication abilities, excellent problem­ solving skills   
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects  
  • Self­-motivated with exceptional time management, organizational skills and attention to detail   
  • Ability to manage multiple online research projects accurately and on-­time in a fast­-paced  environment where moving deadlines and other changes often occur in real time   
  • International business experience, especially in Asia, a plus  
  • Japanese language proficiency (Reading, Writing, Speaking) a big plus  
  •  Knowledge and experience with export control, a big plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Microsoft SharePoint and relevant software applications
