Sr. Fellow of Memory and Storage Strategy

Job Summary

We are looking for a Sr. Fellow of Memory and Storage Strategy with extensive expertise in software and systems development and is also able to demonstrate strong organizational leadership, high judgment, and previous experience setting technology direction to achieve strategic objectives. In this role, you will interact across technical/functional areas with senior management - both domestically and internationally - to conceptualize and deliver innovative solutions. The successful candidate for this exciting role will combine entrepreneurial thinking with disciplined execution to deliver an architectural roadmap ahead of rapidly changing market and customer needs.

 

Responsibilities:

A driving force in helping conceptualize and determine the strategic direction of related projects.  The successful candidate will need to:

  • Have a working knowledge of FLASH memory, its strengths, limitations and the memory hierarchy in general
  • Understand how SSD’s work, including the physics of the drives (strengths and limitations), a working knowledge of the FTL, and be able to knowledgably interact with TSB technical experts
  • Understand how SSD’s interact with the host and how the host uses them 
  • Deep knowledge and experience in the storage ecosystem, including SW (OSS, SDS)
  • Understand (from a technology perspective) storage history as well as trends in storage, storage SW, and applications (especially SDS)
  • Maintain a great professional network within the SSD ecosystem
  • Work with the Toshiba Memory America businesses and the Toshiba Memory Japan HQ technical leadership to assist in guiding the long-term strategy for storage

 

Requirements:

  • Ability to lead development of SW tools and solutions as defined by the project
  • A history in leading technology development is a must
  • Ability to individually design SW (C++, Linux) is helpful, but not required
  • Ability to manage remote/contract SW developers
  • Able to work effectively, efficiently, and amicably with other project team-mates in Toshiba Memory and Japan
  • Ability to interface and engage knowledgably and credibly with key players within Japan R&D 

 

Education:

  • MBA preferred, BSEE or BSCS.
