About our group: The San Jose Storage Design Center (SDC) is part of Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC). We are responsible for the design and development of hard disk drives (HDDs), solving interesting and challenging problems and supporting Toshiba in meeting the world’s ever-growing storage needs. SDC is a relatively small but diverse group, with a flexible and supportive work environment. We are within walking distance of many restaurants and the light rail, and just a few minutes drive from the San Jose Airport. Key Responsibilities: As a summer intern in the servo team, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting hard disk drive technologies, with seasoned engineers as well as other functional teams, to meet product requirements. Potential duties include the following:
Enhance existing servo control features
Investigate and develop new servo control algorithms and tuning schemes
Bring up and verify servo functionalities on new platforms
Perform servo evaluations and failure analysis
Prepare design documents and conduct design reviews
Support product manufacturing and qualification
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering or related field
Solid background in servo control, ideally including graduate level coursework
Strong embedded coding skills
Understanding of signal processing
Familiarity with simulation tools such as Matlab
Good communication skills
Open to learning; passionate about problem solving
Comfortable working in a collaborative team environment, but able to work productively independently
