QA & Test Engineer

Job Description:

Toshiba is looking for a Staff System QA & Test Engineer for the Toshiba Flashmatrix Edge-Computing Systems Solutions Business Unit based in San Jose, California. The position will be responsible for executing the system test plans to verify and validate both system hardware, firmware and software validation. The candidate we seek is a person who is passionate about systems solutions, product testing, quality assurance and has a proven record in the relevant industry.


  • Support efforts by defining, developing, executing, and reporting System Test plans and specifications covering: Interoperability, Reliability, Functionality, Robustness, Performance, and Compliance to fully prove-out the Hardware, Firmware, Software, and drivers.
  • Effectively communicate internally to the Hardware, Firmware and Software teams on the issues detected during system test and work together to determine root cause and taking the corrective action in a timely manner.
  • Be able to provide technical help and support to other team members in the day-to-day test execution and planning activities.
  • Work in conjunction with Flashmatrix teams to coordinate activities and efforts to bring quality products to market as quickly as possible.
  • Work together with the other Ops functions (Production Test, Product Engineering, Quality, Reliability, and Manufacturing) to continue to improve our processes, procedures, and test schemes to improve product quality, reliability yield, and cost.
  • Submit deliverables as per the Quality Assurance requirements, report internally as required and deliver to aggressive schedules.
  • Create new processes and procedures or update current ones to address the above areas and provide a foundation for continuous improvement.
  • Communicate, and regularly report out on, system test status and results.



  • 5 or more years of relevant experience
  • High-level problem resolution methodologies with strong debug skills.
  • Handle multiple project / sub-project completion in line with project plans.
  • Broad knowledge of computer architecture and operating systems
  • Applied knowledge in host interface technologies and protocols
  • Ability to precisely and efficiently setup an environment necessary to execute test case(s) and/or replicate a customer issue.
  • Ability to precisely execute test cases from a test specification and record the results in a timely manner.
  • Investigation and analysis of issues arising from failed test case(s) including capture of further information for the debug purposes.
  • Applied experience in test automation using at least one of the following languages: Python, Perl, shell, Ansible, C/C++.
  • Defect reporting and proactive management of reports using a defect tracking system.
  • Design and implementation of test cases and procedures to fully validate system level requirements whilst also giving consideration to aspects of test execution such as efficiency, potential ambiguity, checkpoints, context etc.
  • Be able to bring innovation and creativity within the system function.
