The Self Servo-Write Development Group at TAEC is responsible for developing innovative SSW process technology and integrating these processes into new Toshiba HDD production. The ideal candidate for this position will be a self-driven engineering student pursuing a career in Automatic Control Systems development. Spend the summer exploring HDD servo control systems and challenges in a professional advanced product development environment. POTENTIAL PROJECTS:
• Upgrade, test and validate a new generation of MATLAB-based HDD servo system analysis and diagnostic tools • Characterize HDD self-servo write subsystem performance characteristics under varying physical conditions through lab-based data collection and analysis, reporting and reviewing your results with the development team • Optimize servo control system parameters utilizing automated tuning technologies, reporting and reviewing your results with the development team • Produce quality embedded firmware, participate in peer design reviews and provide supporting documentation of advanced SSW processes functions
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Pursuing an Engineering degree with a solid background in servo control, ideally including graduate level coursework • Interested in a career in embedded control systems • Self-starter with strong analytical skills and ability to manage multiple tasks/projects while maintaining strong interpersonal and communications skills in a collaborative development environment. • Familiarity with analysis and data visualization tools such as MATLAB or Octave • Strong embedded coding skills
Salary Range: $50/HR
