What You Will Be Doing

We are the inventors of flash memory and the fastest-growing SSD business in the industry. We want to maximize our business potential by expanding into new products, new markets and new business opportunities.

This position owns Strategic Marketing responsibilities across Toshiba Memory America’s (TMA) entire SSD portfolio of Client, Data Center, and Enterprise SSD products. You will analyze new market segments, new product concepts, new business opportunities and plan the entry into new product segments. You will work closely with a variety of teams including Product Management, Marketing, Customers, Ecosystem Partners and Business Intelligence to drive new product concepts into real products.

This is a great opportunity to influence the strategic direction and long-term roadmap of the company that invented flash memory and is a trusted supplier to some of the best known brands in the client, data center, and enterprise markets.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include

Bring your knowledge of the storage industry and a focus on the strategic, business, financial viability of new concepts to help us grow in new areas or find new ways to expand / strengthen our current business.

You will analyze the strategic impact and business impact of entering various new segments and developing new products based upon TMA’s overall financial performance and relationship with customers, recommendations to senior management, based on data-driven analysis and careful consideration of key factors, on which new markets and opportunities warrant investment and prioritization, along with how new entries strategically impact our existing portfolio. Here is a sample of activities that you will be driving:

  • New Segment and Market Analysis – Analyze market trends, forecasting, business profitability analysis, new business planning
  • Portfolio Analysis and Prioritization - Prioritization ranking of product portfolio, resource analysis
  • Technical Analysis and Feasibility – Understand key technology and market drivers for new concepts, apply flash technical knowledge, storage and systems technical knowledge to assess the fundamental business value in any new opportunity
  • Industry Collaboration and Evangelization - Public speaking, presentation skills, promotional skills, contract negotiation
  • Strategic Analysis and Game Theory Positioning - Marketing strategy, competitive analysis, game theory and the ability to recommend business strategy based on a range of possible outcomes
  • TCO Analysis – Financial and technical, system-level knowledge to drive TCO analysis and financial justification for new product or business opportunities
  • Go to Market Planning – Lead the go-to-market planning of new product concepts via analysis of target market segments, internal development capabilities, intercept timeline, ecosystem readiness, customer readiness and a range of other contributing factors

Education & Experience Necessary for Success

  • 6+ years of Strategic Marketing, Product Marketing, or Product Management, preferably in storage, computing or related industries
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional global teams in multiple time zones
  • Ability to work well autonomously and with diverse, multi-cultural teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are must, including excellent presentation and public speaking capability
  • Enthusiasm, drive and energy to champion new business opportunities, and the ability to influence stakeholders at various levels
  • Familiarity with Japanese language and culture a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or comparable scientific/ engineering discipline; MBA desirable
