Principal Software Developer

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Memory and Storage Strategy Division, as a Software Developer for Storage Software Strategy (SSS) for Modern Data Center. You will be responsible for development of host side source code (SW) in between filesystems and device driver like device mapper for new types of SSD, and providing direction on SW architecture, functions and features. You will analyze Toshiba's Storage device, Open source software in the industry and future innovated memory and storage media to enable our storage to thrive in a software-defined world.



This role will include working with open source industry like Linux Memory/Storage Sub System communities and contributing them with our solution which includes both SW and hardware. This is a very collaborative position and you will also be responsible for providing technical knowledge and systems knowledge to enable a Storage Software Strategy team to execute on future solutions for expanding Storage components device business.



  • At least 5 years of DC Infrastructure Class Linux software engineering in a software development organization
  • At least 5 years recent experience architecting block device layer and/or data management like RAID for storage software
  • At least 3 years' experience building systems-level software (e.g. Linux kernel modules)
  • Familiar with open source industry and contributing of SW into there
  • Deep knowledge in at least two related product or technical areas such as file systems, kernel drivers or NoSQL DB
  • Good written and excellent verbal communication.



  • Memory sub-system and Storage Class memory working understanding
  • NAND 3D, SLC/MLC.TLC/QLC and SSD working understanding.
