The Self Servo-Write Development Group at TAEC is responsible for developing innovative SSW process technology and integrating these processes into new Toshiba HDD production. The ideal candidate for this position will be a self-driven engineering student pursuing a career in Automatic Control Systems development. Spend the summer exploring HDD servo control systems and challenges in a professional advanced product development environment. POTENTIAL PROJECTS:
Upgrade, test and validate a new generation of MATLAB-based HDD servo system analysis and diagnostic tools
Characterize HDD self-servo write subsystem performance characteristics under varying physical conditions through lab-based data collection and analysis, reporting and reviewing your results with the development team
Optimize servo control system parameters utilizing automated tuning technologies, reporting and reviewing your results with the development team
Produce quality embedded firmware, participate in peer design reviews and provide supporting documentation of advanced SSW processes functions
QUALIFICATIONS:
Pursuing an Engineering degree with a solid background in servo control, ideally including graduate level coursework
Interested in a career in embedded control systems
Self-starter with strong analytical skills and ability to manage multiple tasks/projects while maintaining strong interpersonal and communications skills in a collaborative development environment.
Familiarity with analysis and data visualization tools such as MATLAB or Octave
Strong embedded coding skills
Salary Range: $45-$55/hour
