The Engineering Director will be responsible for leading and overseeing the engineering department within the organization. They will provide strategic direction, technical leadership, and operational excellence to drive the successful delivery of engineering projects and the advancement of technical capabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Establish strong technical relationships with customers and execute on the business goals, and activities aligned with the company's overall objectives.
Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering activities for qualifying new products and supporting existing products in the field.
Lead and manage a team of engineers, technical professionals, and project managers for qualification and support activities. Foster a culture of collaboration, performance excellence, and continuous learning within the team.
Allocate resources, manage budgets, and monitor project progress to ensure successful outcomes within defined timelines and quality standards.
Identify and mitigate technical and project-related risks. Implement risk assessment and mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions and ensure successful project outcomes.
Oversee technical meetings on current and future storage product lines.
Review technical documents and explanations to customers and internal teams.
Supervise and facilitate solutions and closure of issues including preliminary failure analysis on drives which fail during qualifications and drives returned for urgent field issues.
Provide quality reports to both customers and Japan quality teams.
Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
Develop and manage the engineering department's budget, ensuring efficient utilization of resources and cost-effective operations.
Ensure adherence to quality standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices in engineering activities.
Requirements
Proven experience (8 to 12 years) in leading and managing engineering teams, preferably in a technology-driven organization.
Strong technical background in a relevant engineering discipline, with a deep understanding of engineering principles and processes.
Track record of successfully driving and delivering complex engineering projects within defined timelines and budgets.
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
Advanced technical or management certifications are a plus.
Salary Range: $156,300 - $250,000
